Pull up a chair!

I'd like to share a story with you…

I’m Barbara Maisonet, CEO and head coach at Barbara Maisonet Inc, a boutique Life and Business coaching firm based in sunny San Diego.

In 2006, I was busy working an 8 am-4 pm job. My schedule was set.  My paycheck came every two weeks. I had great benefits. But something wasn’t settled within me. One day, I was on the phone with a dear friend from my college days (I went to Biola University graduating cum laude with a degree in Communications) and she mentioned a new up and coming profession- Life Coaching and thought of me.  Her words, verbatim, were “You can get paid to ask questions.” Instantly, I thought to myself… “Because I am, naturally, someone who is drawn to deep relationships and getting to the root of things, I now can build a business around helping people doing what I already do- ask questions!” And from there, what was unsettled in my soul, become clear… I would become a Life and Business Coach.

“Because I am, naturally, someone who is drawn to deep relationships and getting to the root of things, I now can build a business around helping people doing what I already do- ask questions!”

It’s interesting, how one simple conversation could change the trajectory of one’s life, isn’t it?

From that moment on, I stormed full speed ahead into this new career… I went through a 1-year, the intensive training program at Accomplishment Coaching and set up my coaching practice.  I hustled, was rejected, hustled some more, learned a ton on “how to” build a business, was rejected some more (because remember, at the time when I started my company, “Life and Business Coaching” was not a household name.  In fact, no one had a clue as to what I was talking about when I told them I was a coach. I felt like a pioneer.) and eventually landed some pretty amazing clients. In this process of building a successful business, I took notes so I could, in turn, effectively coach each and every business owner who entrusts me to guide, lead, ask and help them grow a system-led, purpose-driven and passion-filled thriving business.  It’s what I do. And I love it!

“Over the years, I have been entrusted to coach business owners in the medical field, the event industry, the service-based industry, the production-based industry, the health & wellness industry, the real estate industry, and many others. It’s what I do. And I love it!”

Over the years, I have been entrusted to coach business owners in the medical field, the event industry, the service-based industry, the production-based industry, the health & wellness industry, the real estate industry, and many others.  Each client came to the table uncertain of what “to do” next to take their business to the next level so together, as partners, we devised a strategic plan to do just that. And when I’m not working 1:1 with clients, I am up on stage or a guest on a podcast presenting content-rich, interactive presentations where the audiences walk away with a) new nuggets to think about and b) tangible, action steps to start working on immediately.

I spend a huge amount of time with my son (single mama here) homeschooling and traveling… because I feel other places and other cultures offer so much learning and personal growth- new sights, new foods, new music, new smells, new experiences are what expands our capacity to think differently, to expand our belief system and to connect with others- all principles I want my son to learn, young.

When I am not coaching, I spend a huge amount of time with my son (single mama here) homeschooling and traveling… because I feel other places and other cultures offer so much learning and personal growth- new sights, new foods, new music, new smells, new experiences are what expands our capacity to think differently, to expand our belief system and to connect with others- all principles I want my son to learn, young.  I also LOVE putting 1000-piece puzzles together (yes, my nerdy side is legit) and try new foods (foodie-wannabe here). I embrace challenges. I’m not easily (if at all) offended. I take nothing personally. Oh… and fun fact- I fell smack dab, flat on my face on national television, when I heard the infamous words- “Barbara Maisonet… come on down! You are the next contestant on the Price is Right!” (True story. Ask me about it.)

In essence, I love to partner with already amazing business owners who want a no-fluff, skilled question-asker coach who will always be on their side, no matter how difficult or discouraging or challenging growing can be… my mission is your business’ success.
